CLGP – Gin Pit
The last of the CLGP brought out only a few Horwich Runners flying the flag for Horwich. This did clash with the Ian Hodgson relays so the Fell guys could be excused.
Rob Jackson, Andy Lloyd & Andy Townsend came in 10th, 11th & 12th respectively Dave Jackson did extremely well to get 14th after the Rivington Half Marathon the day previous. Sean Mcmylers steady progress gave him 30th and Rudolf Maciejkowcz in 37th.
Christa Whatmough the only Horwich lady came a satisfied 19th in the ladies race.
Race to Remember 29th Sept
This trail race held at Scorton was blessed with good weather and over 120 runners, the course was very scenic around the Trough of Bowland all proceeds went to the Alzimers charity and one of the organizers was our very own Brendon Bolland.
The course was quite undulating with a tough half mile hill at 4 miles. The race was won by Ste Swarbrick of Bowland Runners in 34.38 our first counter was Paul Muller in a fine third place in 35.44 despite having a bad back! Tony Hesketh ran well for 20th in 42.51 winning the 1st O/60 prize and the team was completed by Peter Ramsdale in 40th in 47.01 having just returned from holiday the night before.

Sunday 28th September 2013
The sun shone on the 188 runners as they started what is a surprisingly tough 2 lap course that consisted of long sustained inclines and a sting in the tail with a tough steep hill in the last 1/2 mile !
It was great to see some new members toeing the line with a number having only competed the day before on the fells at the clubs trial race at Thieveley Pike, near Burnley. Joe Mercer, our newest member taking the honours in this race !
Overall, we had 12 Horwich runners competing at Swinton and our other new club super star in the shape of Chris Farrell, battled it out towards the front end and was well supported by Martyn Bell and Joe Mercer to claim the team honours.
As always our first 10 runners will contribute towards the overall points in the CLGP but the calculations of where we currently place as a club are yet to be determined going into the final Grand Prix event at Gin Pit next Sunday.
Full results can be found on the following link: –
The final race at Gin Pit will be on Sunday 6th October at 10.00am and registration will be at the – Miners Welfare Club, Gin Pit Village, Ley Road, Tyldesley, Manchester, M29 7DW
Thank you for your continued support and best of luck in this race.
