Dentdale Fell Race -2.9m/1385ft

This 2.9 mile race was part of the Dentdale show weekend. After a steady paced run of a few hundreds metres on tarmac the off road climb of almost 1400 feet started in earnest. it wasn’t long before the glutes and quads started to burn from the steep uphill and any attempt at acceleration was nigh on impossibility.
After what seemed like an age of climbing and two false summits I was finally at the top and onto some soft, wet, mossy ground for a run along the ridge and a chance to regain some composure. It was then over a fence and around the trig point and back the way we came. After the very steep ascent a lovely, steep, grassy, runnable descent back into the village. The terrain was excellent and my jelly legs only let me down briefly by sending me skidding head first down part of the hill – no limbs, or, more importantly positions were lost and I managed to finish a very proud and happy third.
