Northern 4 Stage Road Relays. Hartlepool Sat 27th Sept.

Katie Ingram made up for what she described as a disappointing run at the World Running Mountain Championship in Switzerland with a fantastic run on the first leg of this prestigious road relay, winning the leg in 12.26 with a clear margin of 15 seconds from Nicola Geddes of Scunthorpe. Her time was also second fastest of the day just 6 seconds behind Rebecca Robinson of Kendal who ran the fastest time with 12.20.

It was a very apprehensive but excited Caroline Scholes who set off in the lead on the second leg, and ran exceptionally well bringing Horwich in for a fine 7th place running 14.52. Our third leg runner Sarah Norgate has been away from racing for some time with an Achilles injury, but she gave 100% and raced to a super time of 14.38, and 12th team place. Running the final leg was Christine Boardman who gave her all over the very fast 4k course, clocking 16.12, and bringing the Horwich ladies in for 18th team overall, an excellent result with 42 teams running. Very well done ladies.
