Sportshall Champions from Horwich RMI Harriers & AC

Congratulations to the Under 11 Boys from Horwich RMI Harriers who finished as Lancashire Sportshall Champions for the first time ever. Sunday 13th February at Blackpool Sports Centre saw the final league meeting of the season and Horwich were led magnificently by both William Hart and Matthew Stocks, who scored 16.5 and 18.5 points respectively. William excelled in the 3 lap race and Matthew won the sitting ball throw. Other great performances came from Callum Gordon who scored 10.5 points and came second in the standing long jump. James Keating threw well in the soft javelin and Mackenzie Dacre continues to improve in the 3 lap race. Sam Hart and Stephen Brown also performed well on the day. In the Under 11 Girls section Isobel Dean threw well to win the Soft Javelin, whilst Madeleine Littlewood, Katie Shingler and Helena Norris all ran well to score some valuable points for the team. Lauren Dixon and Eleanor Hall continue to improve, whilst there was a great debut for Esmee Critchley. Performance of the day and probably of the season came in the Under 13 boys. This was the amazing new Lancashire Record in the 6 lap time trial from Horwich’s James Lovell, who ran in a time of 1m18.40s (smashing the previous record of 1m 20.0s). In the Under 13 Girls, Ellie Dacre won the speed bounce with 81 in 30 seconds and Lucy Keating ran well on the day and led the relay team to a fine 2nd place. Overall in the 2010/2011 season, Horwich RMI Harriers came 3rd in the Lancashire Sportshall League. Thanks to all that took part and helped out on the meetings.
