Veterans 10 Mile Road Race – St Annes Sun 12h Oct

What is normally a tough ten course with brisk sea winds in your face, was today a tranquil Autumnal day with bright sunshine and perfect running conditions.

The course – which mostly hugs the coast line in St Anne’s – runs along the seafront for an out and back course which was busy with people enjoying the sunshine but they did not distract the runners from some good times. Russell Maddams was our first counter in third clocking a fine 55.23, just a few seconds faster that last year. Colin Rigby nearly back to his old form was grouped with Russell for most of the race but just couldn’t hold on to Russ over the finishing few miles, but was very satisfied with his 55.57 and fourth place. Mark Lysycia was testing himself out before his half marathon next weekend and ran 70.49 for 47th, with John Foulds (72.20) not too far behind in 54th. We also had a lady running in the 0/75 age group, Lola Smal recorded 2.01.11 to win her category and looked pretty good at the finish, just a Sunday run for her!
