During the past 15 years three points of access to the SSE aspect of Winter Hill have been lost to quarry expansion, this has pushed the sole point of access to a point in between Montcliffe quarry and Pilkington Delph quarry. Plans have been submitted to join these two quarries together by removing the narrow land bridge upon which the remaining path runs. In order to show its value as a point of access to Burnt edge and Winter Hill it is essential that it is used. With a further anticipated quarry extension the next point of access to the South would be off Matchmoor lane and beyond Burnt Edge.
Please consider using the path dividing the quarries at present when out training or just walking.
