Bolton By Bowland Fell Race – Sunday December 7th 2008

One by one the Horwich faces appeared out of the woodwork (or warmth) on this somewhat icy cold, dodgy underfoot day. The men consisted of Colin Waterworth, Tony Varley, a hung-over Albert Sunter, Ian Hepburn, Paul Boardman, Doug Flemming & James Kevan. James came third, Albert was praying the finish would come sooner rather than later, Doug managed to hold off Paul, Ian put far too much distance between Suzanne & him and looking at the times, a mini battle maybe ensued between Colin & Mr V. For the ladies it was Kath Swindell, Michele Sunter, Rachel Metcalfe & Suzanne Budgett. Unfortunately, the icy cold day brought on an asthma attack for Kath & she had to pull out pretty early on. I have had word that Kath is now ok. A good solid run from Michele showing that her Snowdon marathon endurance is still in her legs. Both Rachel & Suzanne enjoyed their runs, and as a bonus both finished relatively clean compared to a previous outing on this course. This course is really pleasant and is easily comparable to any cross country course, so anyone who thinks they ‘can’t do fell’ should give this one a whirl – at least just once!
Suzanne

Modesty did not allow Suzanne to say that she won the race outright, well done Suzanne. NM
