Longridge Lions 7 Mile Road Race

Gaynor Higson, Keith Makin and Ed Swift went across to the village of Longridge Nr Preston on a bright but extremely windy day to run in this race which also runs as the Christmas Pudding race in December. Organised by Lions International these two races raise funds for local charities such as Mountain Rescue Service and the Air Ambulance Service.
Starting at the Civic Hall the race immediately climbs out of Longridge for about 3 miles then undulates around Longridge Fells with spectacular views across the Ribble Valley looping back round past the local golf course and Dilworth Reservoir. The final run in is downhill back into Longridge with an unexpected finishing funnel back at the Civic Hall.Gaynor had the best result, 2nd Lady overall and 1st Lady Vet 40. Keith was just glad to get under 60 mins in the wind and Ed running very well after his recent exertions on his Joss Naylor Challenge.
