Ashurst Beacon Fell Race 9.5 k 250m 12th January 2013

A cold but dry day wellcomed over 150 runners for this local fell race with the course very muddy in places times were generally slower than in previous years. Tim Ellis of Calder Valley won easily by over a minute leading from gun to tape. First home for us in a fine 6th place with a good run after a long lay off was Alastair Murray. Glynn Kay was close behind in 8th and his brother Michael took a number of scalps in 27th with a well judged race. Paul Boardman was only 3 seconds behind Mick but was disappointed with his race. In the vets Tony Hesketh was second o/60 in 42nd place with Mike Crook going one better winning the o/65 category in 84th another runner returning after a long lay off.
