Wasdale Fell Race – 21m /9000ft Sat 11th July

I have only limited info on the race as yet, but once again this super long ‘A’ fell race took it’s toll of runners with only three from the club finishing from the eight who started. Dave Milliken was our first in, finishing in 21st place running a time of 4.31. I am sure that Spike will have a few tales to tell being his first Wasdale! Mick Crook must have been very pleased to beat the cut off times this year running 5.39.51 for 105th place, but more importantly second 0/60, well done Mick. Another taking on the Wasdale challenge was Suzanne Budget, very nicely placed at the top of both the 0/40 and 0/45 age groups in the English Championship, which to some extent committed her into doing this race, and although slightly apprehensive took on the challenge and did great, getting round the course in one piece in a time just over six hours. It will be interesting to see the full results when they come out.
