Snowdon International Race 10m/3.300ft– Sat 18th July.

Katie Number One Again.

The forecast was for heavy rain, but the weather stayed dry with smiles all round as Katie Ingram for the second consecutive year won this tough International Mountain Race – again leading the England team to victory. Her margin of victory this year was amazing as she finished over seven minutes faster than second placed runner Philippa Jackson – also running for England, but in Pip’s defence she was feeling a little jaded from Wasdale!. In fact Katie took over 5 minutes off her PB from last year’s race which placed her 20th overall in the race – with an entry of 500. Her time to the top was 48.31, with a descent time 27.02 for a 1.15.32 total, getting ever closer to that super record set in 95 when Carol Greenwood ran 1.12 48. Emma Clayton finished third lady in 1.25.38, giving England a clean sweep of 1-2-3.

We had two other Harriers running in Lindsey Brindle and dad Brent, both got to the top in 61.30, but Brent’s descending is not what it used to be, as Lindsey pulled away to finish in 1.33.18 and finish a super second lady in the open race. Brent finished in 1.34 50 – not far behind! Which put him 5th 0/50, another great run considering the numbers and competition. A great day out!
