3 Sisters 5k

Central Lancs Grand Prix
3 Sisters 5k
Wednesday 12th June 2013

219 toed the line on what became quite a humid evening after some heavy rain before the start, but overall conditions around this part trail and road circuit were excellent.

The 5k race required two short and 1 long lap to be completed and it was super vet35 Alastair Murray that gave an early chase and hot on the heels of the eventual winner Antony Valentine from Bolton Harriers.

The chase was deliberate and Ali had planned ahead of the race to use the race to practice different speeds and get something out of the race but crucially get some valuable team points.

Horwich RMI took the mens first team honours and Martyn took the lion share of the team beers !

Horwich First Team – 4

Martyn Bell – 3rd
Alastair Murray – 4th
Dave Jackson – 10th
Andy Townsend – 14th

Next 6 runners contributing to the CLGP overall standings

Glynne Lever – 21st
Graham Finch – 25th
Chris Ingham – 34th
Nick Isherwood – 61st
David Unsworth – 76th
Colin Wood – 103rd

And just to add some real depth we had the following members who all ran fantastically well on the night.

Steve Thomasson – 127th
Pete Bland – 130th
David Wagstaff – 140th
David Barnes – 150th

Grand Prix overall standings – In the A team (first 10) Horwich RMI still lead the way after 5 CLGP races but only marginally over Bolton Harriers. In the Vets (Male & Female), we are still dominating but we certainly need to focus on the Ladies (only 4 required) and B teams – come on ladies lets support Christa and Julie !

Please Note: the next block of 3 CLGP races are within much tighter time frames, notably – 7th August – Chorley 4.4 / 11th August – NVAC 10k Bispham / 1st September – Pennington Flash 5

Yours in Sport, Martyn Bell
