1500m Elite Race Preston Town centre

James Kevan’s short distance form just gets better, this time scorching around the Preston Town centre in a small elite field of 800 & 1500m specialists, including Paul Bradshaw GB, Chris Bryant Wales. James was invited by Helen Clitheroe as the British and English U/23 Champion and there must have been some surprised expressions as he finished 5th in 4:11.04, (to be confirmed) very close to 2nd Paul Bradshaw and 3rd David Rigby of Preston.

This is the first 1500m James has raced since he was U15 so this is a PB as his last PB was 4:31

Quote: ‘After being persuaded by my brother to do the race with him, he unfortunately had to pull out a few days before with injury leaving me in an elite 1500m on my own and having not done one since high school I was a little nervous!
The race was almost three laps around the market in the centre of Preston. Lucky for me they started steady on the first lap and gradually picked up the pace. I just stuck with them and tried to get around the outside on the start of the final lap but didn’t get very far and ended up sitting near the back until the final corner and with just over 200m to go everyone kicked and I managed to pick off a couple of them and finish in 5th place in 4.11.09 (not official) which shaved a chunk of my previous PB of 4.31’.
