South East Lancs Cross Country Boggart Hole Clough, Salford Saturday 31st October

In the ladies race Lindsey Brindle getting some race sharpening for the next Mid Lancs race, ran a very controlled race to finish in 3rd place overall in 28.15. This is a very good performance and should boost her confidence for her next competitive outing. Running the same distance was our only junior lady in the race Bethan Faulkner. She worked very hard after a week of climbing in Spain to finish in 8th overall and 1st junior lady in 31.31.

The men were next to go, and its still not raining! I cannot comment too much here as I was running around too but everyone worked as hard as usual. Special mention for Gordon Stone who dropped out after a wrong shoe selection resulted in a sore calf and Barry Allman who was saving himself for tomorrow and the ‘through the villages’ race. Rob Haworth was first home in 40.06 in 17th place (3rd V50). Tony Hesketh 39th in 43.02 (1st V60), was second home putting in another cracking performance after looking after junior stars. Steve Jackson had a good performance with 44th place in 43.40 (10th V50). Next was me in 86th in 47.21 (21st V50). Paul Murray had another good run to finish in 93rd in 48.58 (6th V60). Barry Allman completing the team for Horwich finishing in 54.10 in 120th (33rd V50). All the male runners were vets so the Horwich team came 7th, the vet 40 team 3rd, and the vet 50 team 2nd. Well done guys.
