SEL Cross Country – Clayton Vale Sat 28th Nov.

Vets Outing! A contingent of Masters – to give them their proper title – went after the age categories awards in the older age groups at Clayton.

The course was fast despite the heavy rain over the past few weeks with just the one short muddy climb on each of the four laps. Our first finisher was the baby of the team, barely over 50, Rob Howarth, in 16th overall and 1st V50 in 39:53. Keeping up the firsts, Tony Hesketh had an excellent run to finish first V60 and 38th overall in 43:35. Pete Ramsdale seems to be getting back to good form, 73rd in 47:55 just getting the better of Colin Waterworth, 79th in 49:28 followed by Paul Murray, 4th V60 and 85th overall in 50:36 whilst I managed to give Barry Allman the slip finishing 91st in 51:52 with Barry 100th in 54:07. Teamwise the results were good enough to finish as 6th V40 team and 3rd V50 team with only 6 points separating the first 4 V50 teams on the day.

A long gap now until the final SE Lancs fixture scheduled for February 6th at Lilford Park.
