Saturday 1st May 2010.
The weather stayed pretty good despite some forecasts for the second race of this years English Fell Champs. The route is a tough one, with a typically long lakeland climb for starters, it was hands on knees time for all but the elite. This is followed by some rough running between Wetherlam and Swirl How, and some good running from there to the Old Man, for those who have any good running left in them. To finish (you) off there is the classic descent off the Old Man, with a alot of route choice, and the potential to get lost in a quarry.
The race was won for the ninth time by Ian Holmes, taking full advantage of his descending skills, and route knowledge. The results for the harriers running was as follows.
423 finished – results.
Race 3 of the English Champs is Ennerdale. Entries are already open and details can be found here. Entries are also open for Race 4 : Sedbergh 3 Peaks (Limit 500 – see FRA Calendar for details) and Race 5 : Holme Moss (Limit 400).
