Gordon Stone is celebrating 20 years with the Harriers by getting away for seven weeks!
He is undertaking a complete solo traverse of the French Pyrenees footpath, the GR10, this Summer. Starting on June 13th from Hendaye on the Atlantic coast, Gordon is using Paul Lucia’s 50 day schedule to complete the 900km (550 mile) route which includes 50,000m (165,000ft) of ascent through the Pyrenees to Banyuls on the shores of the Mediterranean.
To give him extra incentive, Gordon is also aiming to raise funds for both Guide Dogs for the Blind and The British Heart Foundation in completing the challenge. If you would like to make a donation, however small, the easiest way is through one of the justgiving sites :
Although no running is planned (this may get altered by staying at Gary Devine’s guesthouse in the Ariege), hopefully the trek may improve his fitness in time for a few August races. Gordon’s blog can be found at http://gordonsgr10.blogspot.com/
