CLGP Bolton 5k

CLGP Bolton 5k

285 runners turned out for the 1st in the Series of the CLGP. The Red Army was a little thin on the ground but runners who turned out where rewarded with reasonable results.

This race will always be remembered as “going the wrong way”. As soon as runners got out of the track a Bolton Marshall indicated the wrong way, albeit many runners have known this course for years. It genuinely looked funny from the spectators point of few, but lost time for the front runners did not go down too well.

For a short period of time Chris Ingham found himself out in front with new boy Tom Carson. Not knowing quite what to do with himself, Chris took the glory of being second in the race albeit for a short period of time. Needless to say Tom did what he usually does and lead all the way to a fast finish of 16 mins. Next for the Reds was Andy Townsend in 20th,
Sean McMyler in 33rd, Chris Ingham 47th, Karl Ward 64th, Rudolf Maciejkowicz 74th, Dave Unsworth 81st, Alan Ashley 90th & Lawrence Pinnell in 197th. In the teams this gave Horwich 6th on the day.

The ladies were lead in by the Marie Lowe in 59th making up over 30 secs on Last years time. Next in was Gemma Stokes in 145th. Newbie Chloe Townsend in her first competitive 5k cam in 150th. Christa Whatmough finished in 193rd. This gave the ladies a well earned 5th team placing.

A BIG well done to all who made the effort on behalf of the club and tuning out when required.
