I am now 19 years of age and have been competing on the fells, cross country, road and track (although the track is a very rare occasion!) for 6 years.

My favourite discipline has to be cross country, despite having a very scary introduction to it.  My first ever cross country was at Hyndburn.  I remember standing on the start line as a young 13 year old, wearing big shorts and a baggy T-shirt feeling petrified.  To make things worse, the girl next to me, said “if you knock me when we start then I’ll push your head in the mud afterwards!!”  Well, I have come a long way from then and no one has pushed my head in the mud so far!

My greatest achievements lie in fell running as I have represented England 13 times including competing at the World Mountain Running Trophy for the past 4 years.  Fell running has given me the chance to travel all over the world to places such as Italy, Germany, Austria and Alaska.  Each trip has been fantastic and a great experience that has helped me get to where I am now.

At Horwich my running has improved leaps and bounds and will hopefully continue in the same direction, with the cross country season of 2004 proving my best yet.  I put this down to a lot of hard work, a great coach and lots of enthusiasm for the sport.

I am now studying at Loughborough University and training amongst some of the best athletes in the country who you cannot help but be influenced by.  I am having such a great time, (obviously with a little partying here and there!) and would recommend it to anyone.
