At heart I am a man of the fells as opposed to an out and out fellrunner or athlete, preferring long days out on the hills.

Initially I got into fellrunning through John Hope (Robert & Danny's dad).

As well as running I do quite a bit of cycling which keeps me reasonably fit, I am a lazy trainer and as such my fitness is a bit up and down.  However when I have applied myself in the past it has paid off, with first places in the "Nuts in May" (25mile 7500ft) and "The Old County Tops Fell Race" (39mile 10,000ft).

In the same year as winning the above races I completed a 19hr 26min Bob Graham round.

My favourite races include:

Long Wasdale
Duddon
Medium Fiensdale
Grisedale Horseshoe
Coniston
Short Arnison Crag
Gatesgill (sadly no longer run)
Coniston Gullies (BOFRA race)

As a committee member of Horwich and also Vice Fell Captain my aim is to try and get the club a good representation on the fells and a return to being the formidable force that we have been in the past.
