I did my first proper running race in May 2004 at Harrock Hill (some may say it’s not a proper race!) and was hooked!  After that I decided to join Horwich.  Since then running has become my priority after several years dedicated to cycling.  I can safely say that my future in running seems to lean towards the fells as this is where I’ve had most success.

One memorable moment was on the start line at the Kentmere Horseshoe with Tony Hesketh and Rob Green killing themselves laughing because I had no idea which way we were supposed to go or how to read a map and I’d bought some brand new Walsh’s because they had red on them and matched our kit (I had blisters for the last 3 miles).

It seems I have the monopoly on annoying Norman at the training sessions, but honestly I do listen when he’s telling us what to do, and one day I’m sure I’ll get it right.

To win higher calibre races and prove to Norman I can finish a race without going off course!
