I first started running about 20 years ago when I was taken down to the cinder track at Leverhulme Park by my dad.  I then ran for Bolton Harriers until the age of maybe 15 or 16.  I dabbled in sprinting but was told I wasn't fast enough so I turned my attention to middle distance running.  I ran mainly 1500m.  I then spent about 10 years in the wilderness by concentrating on rock climbing and mountaineering (bit of a change, I know) but after being in some precarious situations I decided to hang my climbing shoes up and concentrate on running again.

This then leads me up to now, I’ve been running for Horwich for about 3 years now, and I must admit I really enjoy it (when I’m not injured).  So far I’ve done 5 mountain marathons (3 KIMM's and 2 LAMM's).  I enjoy fell running and cross country, especially the Red Rose and SELL.  At a push you might even see me doing some road races.  But my heart would be still in those hills.
