I started running aged about 16, after going for a few runs with work colleague Kevin Gaskell. After a rather unsuccessful junior career, I drifted in and out of the sport for a few years, with many failed comebacks. This was due to injury and the demoralisation associated with this. I decided on New Year's day 2004 to give it one last try. I realised how much I enjoyed running, and that the old saying is true that it's the taking part that counts. Towards the back end of 2004 the results started to get better due to consistency in training without injury. This year I have enjoyed competing in all the local fell races. I especially like the laid back, friendly atmosphere, and the fact that nearly all of them start and finish at a pub. The craic afterwards is almost as good as the running! Likes Dislikes Ambitions |
