More Experienced Men
The club has nearly 200 adult male members,
with a wide range of abilities, covering all ages.
Always well represented at local races, new members will find that
whatever their level there will always be someone to race, someone
else to catch, and someone to have a chat and compare notes with
afterwards, both within the club, and in other local clubs.
The people around you will soon become familiar faces.
For those wanting to take things a bit further, there are a number
of club training sessions throughout the week. Why not come
along for a taster on a Tuesday evening when there is the Senior
Track session at the Bolton Arena from 6.30pm. This is
structured around speedwork for a range of abilities, but no less
suitable for a beginner. There is also a Hill Session on
Thursday evenings, meeting at the junction of Foxholes Rd and
Factory Hill, Horwich at 6.45pm. All sessions are lead by
qualified coaches, and are a good opportunity to get some advice
(further information in the coaching section of the website).
For those already taking things a bit more seriously, the club is
competitive as a team at all age groups, on the road, cross country
and fells. Regularly taking the team honours in local races,
and also recent winners of both the Calderdale Way and Pennine
Bridleway Relays, the club is also often in the points in national
fell championship races. We often put out many teams in relay
events, so everyone gets a chance to be part of the team and enjoy
these great days out.
Whatever you are looking for as a runner, Horwich RMI Harriers has
something to offer. For more information, please contact
Alastair Murray (01204) 401344.
