Pendle Fell Race

Pendle Fell Race.
2nd April 2016.
Barley, Lancs.

The second race in Horwich RMI Junior Fell Championships took place at Barley with races up and down Pendle Hill, with very muddy conditions making the races tougher than usual.

First away was the U/8 and Grace Pendlebury set the standard with a third place finish after a typical gutsy race. In the U/10 Theo Middleton was 6th Boy and this was his first race in this new age group. Cian Healy in the U/12, another runner in a new age group, ran well leading for a time before settling for third just over half a minute behind the winner. Team mate Toby Middleton was a superb 5th after a very good race. The girls race saw Ella Pendlebury win a sprint finish to record a second place, Freya Whittle revelled in the conditions to finish 4th and finally Lydia Johnson also had a good race to finish 8th. Finally the U/14 Boys race saw two exceptional runs by Lucas Milliken finishing second by only ten seconds to A Thompson of Wharfdale and Robert Seddon third only 13 seconds behind. Both fantastic runs. The next Championship race is at Todd Cragg in Cumbria on the 16th April.
