On Saturday 5th February Horwich Harriers had a total of 12 athletes who gained county vests. These athletes were:

All of the above were picked to run for Greater Manchester in a Regional Sports-hall final against strong teams from Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and a few from Cumbria.

The athletes from Horwich came away with 3 gold medals:

The under 15 boys relay, this team consisted of Bruce, Sam, Jack and Josh B.  In the under 15 boys 2 lap sprint Bruce Pilkington walked away with gold and so did Peter Ramsden in the under 13 boys high jump.

Not to be out done though were: Jack Thomas who ran in to silver position in the under 15 boys 2 lap sprint and also Josh Bettis who also gained silver in the under 15 boys 4 lap.

Bronze medals were also brought back by the young athletes as Becca Norris came away 3rd in the under 15 girls speed bounce and Josh Dunne who leaped into 3rd in the under 13 boys Standing Triple Jump.

Most of the team also came away with PBs.

Despite the excellent performance by some of the Greater Manchester team, the competition from Lancashire and Cheshire was too strong and unfortunately none of the Greater Manchester teams managed to progress to the National Finals in Birmingham.
