The hard training had paid off - 3 of the Horwich junior athletes gained the qualifying times that allowed them to run in the National Indoor Championships at Birmingham on the weekend of 26th and 27th Feb:

• Bruce Pilkington (U17) qualified for the 200m & 400m
• Jack Thomas (U17) qualified for the 60m
• Becky Crompton (U15) qualified for the 60 m H

Bruce got through to the semi-finals in the 400m by coming 5th in his heat with a PB and time of 53:35, unfortunately Bruce did not qualify for the final.  In his 200m he did a time of 24:33 and came 4th in his heat but did not progress to the later stages.

Jack got a PB of 7.8s and came in 5th in his heat - this was not quite fast enough this year to go any further.  In the 60m there were 90 runners and Jack came away 56th overall - not bad when he has another chance next year.

Becky Crompton who competed in 60m hurdles amongst a field of 32 girls achieved a time of 11:21- but this was not good enough to progress any further.
