Horwich RMI athletes once again were leading the way at the Greater Manchester Schools championships on Saturday.

Bruce Pilkington showed he really meant business when he set a new club U 17 record in the heats of his 400m. He then ran a brilliant tactical race to secure victory in the final.

Becky Norris has already won the Greater Manchester Club Championships over 300m Hurdles and never looked like being headed again at the weekend. Also as in the club championships Lauren Ashton finished a strong second.

As a result of their top two placing Bruce, Becky and Lauren have all been selected to represent Greater Manchester at an inter-county match next weekend.

Also picking up a medal was Sam Gough who secured bronze at U15 over 400m although he was disappointed with his time. Both Will Green and Becky Crompton were slightly unlucky in their events just missing out on medals in 4th place over 100m and shot respectively. Whilst Josh Bettis ran a magnificent personal best over 200m to finish 5th.
