Horwich RMI’s Women and Men had their best set of results to date in the Northern League on Saturday.

Pick of the results was Vicky Snape making a very welcome return to the track.  Vicky dominated the 400m and in the process reduced her own club record and just for good measure she also finished second over 200m.  Backing Vicky up in the 400m was Lauren Ashton who also produced new club figures for the under 17 age group in winning her race.  Lauren also produced a new club record in winning the Triple Jump as well as a personal best over 100m.

Also in winning mood were Katie Ingram and Becky Norris.  Katie showed her class over 3000m winning comfortably in a new Under 20 club record whilst Becky Norris continues to dominate over the long hurdles winning with ease.

The field saw a welcome return for the club’s top thrower as Jane Bland wasted no time in rewriting her own club Hammer record and performing well in Shot, Javelin and Discus.  Whilst Paula Bates produced a winning throw in the ‘B’ string Discus and a lifetime best at Long Jump.  Sophie Barnett meanwhile sailed over 1.50m in the high jump for another victory before running a lifetime best over 200m.

To cap a magnificent afternoon Katie, Vicky, Becky and Lauren then romped home in the 4 x 400m relay again in a new club record time.

On this occasion the Men couldn’t quite match the quality of the Ladies but still produced some fine results.

Bruce Pilkington continues to go from strength to strength and here he produced a massive personal best and a new club record over 200m and for good measure also equalled his best over 100m.

Colin Rigby produced the Men’s highest placing of the day by coming second over 5000m whilst club chairman Pete Bland surely had the hardest afternoon of all as he tackled the 400m, 800m 5000m and the Javelin!
