This Final was held at Sportcity, Manchester on 19th November 2006.  Teams from the North West of England i.e. Cheshire, Manchester and Liverpool etc, competed in the County Finals of this event.  Horwich RMI Harriers had 12 of their young athletes representing Lancashire on the day in a spectacular Competition.  There was a crowd of well over 700 watching the event and cheering all the athletes.

All our young stars performed magnificently on the day against the top athletes from the North West and can be extremely proud of their efforts.  There were also many personal bests achieved on the day!

Congratulations to Tim Raines who won the Soft Javelin event with an awesome throw of 22 metres.  Other fine performances were made by James Barker who finished in 2nd place in the Target Throw with 26 points and Sam Mercer, who was 3rd in the Chest Push with 6.25m.

All the running events were “team events” and all our athletes gave 100%.

The Under 11 Boys Team almost won the event, as it came down to the last 2 exciting Hurdles and Grand Prix relays.  St Helens and Wirral managed to hang on to their slender lead and finished as joint winners, so Lancashire settled for 3rd place, finishing with 408 points and trailing by only 9 points at the end of the day!

For the Girls Under 11 Team, they also performed well finishing in 5th place overall, with the eventual winners being Cheshire.

The next Sportshall Event is 21st January 2007 held at Hyndburn Sports Centre.
