Young Athletes reach the UK National Finals of Sportshall

Congratulations to the Under 13 athletes, Jack Massey and Zac Howe from Horwich RMI Harriers on reaching the UK National Finals of the Sportshall Athletics competition.  They were both chosen to represent the Lancashire Team on Sunday 25th February 2007 at the North West Regional Finals, which took place at Robin Park Sports Centre, Wigan.

Teams came from all over the North West, i.e. Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside.  There was a high standard on show from all the counties.

The Under 13 Boys of Lancashire won their team Competition, so qualify to represent the North West in the UK Finals.  Jack Massey ran well on the day and achieved a Silver Medal in the Vertical Jump with 48cm.  Zac Howe, also performed his best on the day with a great run in the 6 lap race finishing 5th place, but went on to win a Gold Medal in the Obstacle Relay Race.

Also on the day we had 2 other representatives from Horwich RMI Harriers competing, Tiffany Dacre in the Under 13 Girls Team of Lancashire who came 5th in the 4 lap race and 3rd in the 8 lap parlauf.  In the Under 15 Boys Lancashire team, we had Matt Storey taking part, who performed magnificently to achieve Bronze Medal position in the 2 lap race, but then Gold Medal in the 8 lap parlauf race.

Congratulations to the Under 15 Girls team of Lancashire who also won on the day, so represent the North West in the UK Finals.  Cheshire won the Under 13 Girls and Under 15 Boys competition.

We wish Jack Massey and Zac Howe the best of luck, when taking part in the UK Sportshall Finals at the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham in April 2007.
