Wigan Open Meeting, 15th April 2007
Outside Track & Field
This was the second outside “warm-up” track & field competition of 2007
for which we had a great turnout of 25 athletes. Our athletes have
produced some excellent results at the very start of the season,
including 3 new club records for Jamie Crompton in the Under 15 Boys
1500m, April Stevenson in the Under 17 Girls 3000m and Andrew Keats in
the Under 13 Boys High Jump.
There were plenty new personal bests, over 15 on the day! Notably,
Jack Thomas in the Under 20 Men 100m with a quick time of 11.5s, plus
Matthew Storey in the Under 17 Boys with 11.7s.
In the Under 11 Girls, Lucy Philpotts produced a fast time of 13.1s in
the 75m race. There was also a fine debut performance from Natalie
Ashton with a time of 13.3s in the same event. For Under 9 boys
there was a tremendous leap in the long jump by Jake Raines of 2.84m.
